Salma Hayek Nuance Flawless Finish Liquid Foundation - Deep Wam

Hello to all it may concern! If you may or may not know, Salma Hayek has a makeup line. Yeah, it's available EXCLUSIVELY to CVS and cvs.com. Not only does she have makeup, but skincare and haircare as well. Everything you could possible want or need to stay FABULOUS!

BRAND STORY (from CVS website)
A unique collection that combines exotic ingredients and ancient beauty secrets passed down through generations. The proprietary formulas are created using modern science to provide the most effective results. These products are designed to help every woman enhance the nuances that define her individual beauty.
The Nuance Salma Hayek collection embodies Salma's family heritage. The products represent the fusion of her grandmother's cosmetology training with her own vision of beauty, shaped by years of travel around the world. Nuance Salma Hayek was conceived for women who seek high-quality, efficacious beauty products customized to address their personal skincare, body care, haircare and cosmetic needs.

It's been out for a few years now and they have slowly buy surely added some new products to their line. One I will show you all is a fairly new addition, the Flawless Finish Liquid Foundation! I have the shade Deep Warm - 290. Let's take a look!

The Flawless Finish Foundation is available in 8 shades and I purchased the deepest color. I wasn't really a fan of the glass packaging. Actually, the first one I picked up, I dropped it and cracked it..BADLY...WHILE STILL IN THE STORE! I did, however, really loved that it had a pump, but I did not find it easy to really control the amount of product that came out of it. One pump always felt like it was WAY too much for me.

It has a slight scent, I couldn't describe it to you to save my life! This product IS very buildable to full coverage. Depending on how much you have to cover up, if you work in small layers, you can get to full coverage from one to one and a half pumps of this product.

I like to use a brush to blend this foundation out because it's on the thicker side. It's thicker than my Covergirl 3-in-1 Foundation, so using my fingers doesn't really blend out the foundation how I like. This foundation though takes a LONG time to set! It takes at least 5-7 minutes to get from a shiny look to a semi-matte look on the face.

If you have oily skin, you MUST set this foundation! It does NOTHING for oil control throughout the day. I start to see the oil coming through after about 4-5 hours and it is all DOWNHILL from there! This is definitely a foundation that needs touching up throughout the day, if you can get it to last that long.

Overall, I REALLY wanted to LOVE this foundation, but I found it to be too much maintenance for my oily skin.

I think if you have dry skin, can find your shade in the limited options, this might be a nice fit for you. I can barely get away with wearing this foundation in the winter because it's cold, because it would NEVER last in this Georgia heat during the summer.

So I hope you found this review helpful! Heard of Salma Hayek's line Nuance? Tried any makeup, skincare, or haircare from her? Let me know!

Thanks for reading!

L'Oreal Infallible 24Hour Eyeshadows in Purple Priority & Gilded Envy: Review + Swatches

So if you may or may not know, L'Oreal has launched from NEW shades to their 24Hr Infallible Eyeshadow line. There are six new shades and I have two colors I wanted to share with you.

The two colors I purchased are Purple Priority and Gilded Envy. Purple Priority is a metallic blue-purple. It looks almost indigo on my skintone and with certain makeup looks. I only have one other purple shade from L'Oreal and it is Smoldering Plum. Compared to Purple Priority, Smoldering is WAY darker and hardly any shimmer or glitter in it.
Gilded Envy is a VERY glittery light olive green. I guess since Priority hardly had any glitter, Gilded makes up for it TEN FOLD! I do not have Golden Sage which I thought would be a good comparison, but looking at the two shades in store, Golden Sage was a lot more muted and not as green as Gilded Envy.

In comparison to the other three Infallibles that I have, I found that the formulas of these two were WAY creamier. Purple Priority gave me more opaque color with fewer swipes compared to Gilded Envy which takes some time to build up. The lasting ability with a primer was comparable to the Infallibles in my collection already, BUT Gilded Envy seemed to struggle. Even with a primer, I found this shade STILL fading away after about 5-6 hours and leaving me with nothing but glitter to show that something was there.

EM Cosmetics Creamy Color Matte Lipsticks in Passion Berries, Wine Stain, & Just Fab

So if you may or may not know, there is a fairly new makeup brand called EM Cosmetics that was co-created by Michelle Phan a very popular Youtube Beauy Guru. The line has some unique products to it, but I decided to stay close with something familiar with lipsticks. There are three types of lipstick on the EM website: classic, sheer, and matte lipsticks. I chose three of the mattes to try out and of course give some swatches! But before I get TOO into this, I wanted to add some claims from the actual site.

These lipsticks retail for $16.50 USD. There are 10 available shades ranging from nudes, pinks, and purples. I have the shades Wine Stain, Just Fab, and Passion Berries.

  • Inspired by the girl who craves sophistication.
  • A creamy, matte finish without feeling dry.
  • Rich conditioners cushion lips for hours.

As far as the packaging, goes, I like the simplicity. I know a lot of people like flashy packaging and were expecting it from Michelle with this line because of who she is and the prices of the items. I care more about the product inside not so much the outside and package preferences are SO very subjective to each individual. BUT as you can tell from the photos, each lipstick is encased in a white (guessing metal because of the weight) tube with the EM logo and various words that have "em" in them (haha, em is in them, sorry) and the tube carrying the bullet inside is silver.

I really enjoyed the formula of these matte lipsticks. They are not what I would consider matte after using the NYX Matte Lip Creams (matte and SO DRYING), but they are matte in the sense of no shimmer or sparkle. My lips were not dry during the wear of these colors nor when I removed it. There is a slight sheen when first applied, but it fades as the lipstick sets on the lips. They are VERY comfortable to wear and when given a few minutes to set, they last fairly well through eating and drinking, BUT constant grubbing (like I do) does tend to create lots of wear and results in lose of color in the center of the lips.

These lipsticks DO have a scent. It smells JUST like cake batter and while I LOVE that smell, these lipsticks when I first opened them, the scent seemed to RADIATE from them. It was almost unbearable! GOOD NEWS though, the scent QUICKLY dissipates to a more manageable, almost non-existent level after about a week or so of use.

Wine Stain
Wine Stain
Wine Stain is the red of the collection and I was really pressing my luck that it would be a deep red. It's not the brightest red I've worn, but it isn't a shade a really go for anymore when looking for a red lipstick.

Just Fab

Just Fab
Just Fab is the darkest color in the mattes that I have and that I have seen on the website. I REALLY do not know what this color is...In real life the bullet looks totally brown with NO undertones of anything. BUT in photos and on video it shows having red undertones, but against my skin, it just looks BROWN and uninteresting to me. I make it work with a colored lip gloss on top to give it more dimension in color.

Lastly, we have Passion Berries! I saved my favorite for last. Passion Berries is a GORGEOUS berry color. It's not too bright, not too deep, and I think it would look amazing on most.

Overall, I LOVED the formula of these lipsticks. Do I think they are worth their price? Yes, BUT it never hurts to buy on SALE! I really think that EM has awesome matte lipsticks, but if I could change something it would be, better swatches on the website, LESS INTENSE SCENT, and more variety of color selections.

Tried these? Thinking of it now? Or totally turned off by them because of this post? Let me know!

PS Here is video showing a DUPE of Passion Berries!

Vincent Longo Hydro Stick in Aqualily

In this crazy makeup journey, there are a few things that I am CONSTANTLY on the search for such as red lipsticks, translucent powders, and highlighters/illuminators. In this post, I want to talk about a face illuminator called the Hydro Stick that I purchased from Hautelook from the cosmetic line by Vincent Longo.

The Vincent Longo Hydro Stick ($25 USD) in Aqualily is a pink shade with lots of shimmer.
Here is the description from the Vincent Longo website:

Enjoy a modern approach to skin bronzing with Hydro Stick. This new, mostly water technology, leaves the skin feeling refreshed and intensely cool while looking subtly tanned. It feels moist and nearly wet upon immediate application and sets quickly to long lasting color. Skin will feel cool, uplifted and hydrated, while looking radiant and glowing. A sensory experience and beautiful skin finish.

Product Benefits
  • Luminous, natural finish
  • High percentage of water for cooling effect and hydrating action
  • Long wearing gel base for all skin types
  • Pigments that deliver true color
  • Spherical powders for glide and comfort
  • Sheer, buildable coverage
  • Easy to apply

I love that this product is a stick and it does feel very COOL on the skin. As far as the other benefits go, I would agree that this product is buildable and very blendable. BUT be forewarned! This Hydro Stick sets VERY QUICKLY like in about 20 seconds FAST. After it sets, it was almost impossible for me to blend it out on my skin.
It is very prone to melting so keep the inner cap ON IT to help with this. I love the color pay off that I get from this even after just a few swipes on the skin. I think the only thing I would complain about is that the color fades after a few hours, but at least it leaves a nice glow to the skin that doesn't make me look oily at the end of the day. I also found that the color lasts a bit longer if I use it on top of foundation instead of JUST bare skin.

L - two swipe swatch & R- two swipe swatch blended
All in all, I definitely will keep this as part of my arsenal of face highlighters. It's creamy, cooling, non-irritating and with decent wear time in my personal opinion. I am really enjoying using this as part of my natural everyday looks! And I definitely recommend though if you can find it on Hautelook again for cheaper, GO FOR CHEAPER! It was $14 on their website =]

So who has tried this? Loved it, hated it? Let me know down below!

Rouge Profile: Besame Samplers in Merlot, Cherry Red, Red Velvet, Red Hot Red, Besame Red, & American Beauty

Hello everyone! In my never ending journey of finding the PERFECT red lipstick, I stumbled upon this makeup line called Besame Cosmetics. It is a vintage inspired makeup line created by Gabriela Hernandez in the hopes of bringing back glamour and romance into the makeup industry. After finding this line, I saw that they are a good number of red lipsticks that vary in subtle shades and finishes. I got a few of the colors in lipstick samplers ($5 each) and wanted to share. I think I may have found my FAVORITE RED! Let's take a look!

So I bought 3 lipstick samplers that came in a small paper box about the size of a matchbox. Each sampler came with two colors with three "match sticks" with the color on them giving about 2 uses each stick. As for the colors, I got Merlot, Cherry Red, Red Velvet, Red Hot Red, Besame Red, and American Beauty.

Here are the actual descriptions of the colors from the website itself.
  • MERLOT: Semi-matte brick red. Neutral enough for daily wear on any skin tone.
  • CHERRY RED: Deep, rich cherry that can be worn as a sheer rose stain or opaque.
  • RED VELVET: A deeper red suitable for everyday wear. Neutral and subdued.
  • RED HOT RED: Marilyn Monroe’s favorite. A bold and brazen warm red.
  • BÉSAME RED: True red with a cooler, blue-toned base—brightening and vibrant.

  • AMERICAN BEAUTY: (there wasn't a description for this color, so I assume it's new) on me, it's a very pink-red

L to R: Merlot, Cherry Red, Red Velvet, Red Hot Red, Besame Red, American Beauty

Overall I LOVE these lipstick colors. My favorites are Cherry Red and American Beauty they are the most different than ANY other reds in my collection! They are very creamy and have opaque color even as the tiny match stick and give the lips a stain after the color wears off. But mind you, it takes that color a WHILE to wear off to a stain! I can't wait to buy the full size of these!

I hope that you enjoyed this makeup ramble! I think any makeup fanatic should have a good red lipstick as part of their arsenal!
